International Robert Schumann Competition Dusseldorf

Shuan Hern has won 1st Prize in the International Schumann Competition Dusseldorf!  He has also received the special prize for best performance for a piece composed by Robert Schumann in the entire competition. It is exciting to visit the place Schumann was living and the Cologne Cathedral. You can watch Shuan Hern's competition performance from here.

Vladimir Krainev International Piano Competition for Young Pianists

Shuan Hern has became a Laureate of the II Vladimir Krainev Moscow International Piano Competition for Yong Pianist. 122 competitors from 19 countries entrered the competitions and worldwide auditions have been conducted in Russia, China, Japan, Switzerland, Armenia. Shuan Hern has competed in 4 rounds and became one of 5 Laureates of the competition. Besides being the youngest in the competition final round he was also the only non-Russian pianist that won the senior section. 

Liszt Concerto No.1

4th Dec 2016, Shuan Hern Performed Liszt Concerto NO.1 with Perth Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra at Hale School Music Auditorium . It was again another sold out concert.

Solo Recital @ Xiamen, China

26th November 2016, Shuan Hern performed at Xiamen Convention Center Concert Hall, China, This is the first time he performs in China. How exciting! 

Charity Concert for St. Patricks's Commuity Support Center

5th November 2016, Shuan Hern performed in the charity concert "Alleluia" organised by Phillia Mission Ministries. It raised over $5,000 for St. Patrick's Community Support Center. You can make donation from here.

The International Piano Competition for Young Musicians 2016

28th October 2016, Shuan Hern has won 1st prize in the International Piano Competition for Young Musicians, Enschede, Netherlands. He has also won the Audience Prize at the winners concert.  You can watch his winning performance from here.

90th Anniversary of Royal Schools Music Club

8th October, 2016. Shuan Hern performed with dad Yoon Sen at the 90th Anniversary of Royal Schools Music Club Gala Concert. Lots of fun. You can check out more from here.

FMusA 's Youngest Awardee

1st October 2016, Shuan Hern has performed an one and half hours examination solo recital and obtained Fellowship in Music Australia (FMusA) - the highest and the most prestigious award offered by Australian Music Examination Board. Relatively few candidates passed the examination and even musicians working professionally have been unsuccessful, especially on their first attempt. 14-year-old Shuan Hern made history when he was awarded the FmusA. Winning San Marino International Piano Competition

On 16th September 2016, Shuan Hern won the San Marino International Piano Competition for Young Pianist up to 15 years old and obtained the only 3000 Euro Scholarship Prize for Young Talents.  He was very excited after he got a hug from Maestro Arie Vardi. You can watch his performance at the Winners Concert from here.

Imola Summer Festival

From 18th - 30th July, 2016 Shuan Hern attended Imola Summer Festival, Italy. He studies from Maestro Ingrid Fliter and Maestro Alexander Lonquich. Shuan Hern performed Mozart Concerto K414 with Imola Academy Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Lonquich. Congratulations to his friend Kai Ning Wang from Yoon Sen Lee Music School winning third prize in the summer festival competition!

Last Night At The  Proms With Western Australia Symphony Ochestra

15th July 2016, Shuan Hern performed Warsaw Concerto with West Australia Symphony Orchestra at the Lat Night At The Proms Concert at Perth Concert Hall. It was a sold out concert and lots of fun! Check out more from here.

Sydney International Piano Competition

8th July 2016, Shuan Hern was invited to perform at the Sydney International Piano Competition as a young showcase Australian pianist. He performed Chopin Ballade no.2. You can watch the performance from here.  

Performed with Perth Symphony Orchestra

2nd July 2016, Shuan Hern performed Beethoven Piano Concerto No.5 with Perth Symphony Orchestra. It only took him 4 weeks to learn the whole concerto and it was a great performance. You can read more from here.

Recital Australia

Winning all Major Piano Competitions in Western Australia

From May to October 2016, Shuan Hern has won every single open piano recital section in all the major piano competitions held in Western Australia. This includes: Fremantle Eisteddfod, Western Australia Pianist Competition, Joondalup Eisteddfod, Western Australia Teachers Association Recital and Concerto Competition, North of Perth Music Festival and South Suburban Music Society Eisteddfod. Sunday Serenades 2016

15th May 2016, Shuan Hern Performed Solo Recital at Sunday Serenades -- City of Joondalup Civic Chambers. It was organised by the City of Joondalup, Western Australia. It was a sold out concert. Shuan Hern Performed Haydn Sonata Hobe XVI/50, Chopin Nocturne Op27 no.2, Chopin Ballade no.2, Liszt Spanish Rhapsodie, Debussy Merry Island and other repertoire. 

Dr. Martin Luther King. Jr. Holiday Memorial Observance

18th January 2016, Shuan Hern was invited to perform at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Observance by New York State Government, United States. It was boardcast alive on several television channels and raido stations. You can read more from here

9th International Tchaikovsky Competition For Young Musicians

15th December 2015, Shuan Hern has won Laureate prize of the 9th International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians, Novosibirsk Russia. There were 127 young musicians from 22 countries and Shuan Hern has came in 5th in the competition. He is the only Australian who has ever won the Laureate prize since this prestigious competition started in 1992.

Young Pianist of the North International Competition

26th November 2015, 13 year old Shuan Hern has won the 1st prize at the 8th Young Pianist of the North International competition, Newcastle United Kingdom, aged from 12-16. He has also won the special Tchaikovsky Prize for the best Tchaikovsky Prize of the whole competition. Adjudicators are extremely impressed with his performance on Balakirev's Islamey and Tchaikovsky's Meditation.

South Suburban Music Society Eisteddfod

30th October 2015, Shuan Hern won the Most Outstanding Performer in South Suburban Music Society Eisteddfod. He performed Liszt Mephisto Waltz no. 1, Haydn Sonata and Liszt Piano Concerto.

Glasshouse, Olympic Parck Melbourne

28th October 2015, Shuan Hern was invited to perform at the lodge of Glasshouse, Olympic Park Melbourne hosted by The Big Group. He performed Liszt Hungarian Rhapsodie No.2 with blind fold. There was even a huge firework display at the oval. It was really fun.

North of Perth Music Festival

24th October 2015, Shuan Hern attended the winners concert of North of Perth Music Festival hosted by City of Bayswater.  Amongst all instrumentalists, speech and drama performers, singers and choirs, Shuan Hern has won the Most Outstanding Instrumentalist and Most Outstanding Overall Senior Performance and a total of $3700 cash prize. He Performed Scriabin's Nocturne for Left Hand and Balakirev's Islamey.

Vienna Recital

9th July 2015, Shuan Hern has performed an 1 hour recital as part of Golden Key Music Festival in Vienna, Prayner Consertorium. It was a beautiful concert hall. He also visited University of Mozarteum and Mozart's Museum to learn more about Mozart's life.

West Australian Pianists Competition

1st July 2015, Shuan Hern has won total of 11 trophies from West Australian Pianists Competition. He performed Balakirev's Islamey at the winners concert.

Yerevan, Armenia International Young Musicians Festival 2015

29th May - 2nd June 2015, Shuan Hern was invited to perform at the 5th Yerevan, Armenia International Young Musicians Festival at Yerevan. Shuan Hern performed in 4 concerts with Armenia Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra and the Armenia National Chamber Orchestra. He played Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No.1, Balakirev Islamey, Haydn Sonata, and Mozart Piano Concerto and lots of other pieces. This photo is with First Lady of Armenia Rita Sargsyan. Winning @ Fremantle Eisteddfod

10th - 20th May 2015, Shuan Hern has won 5 first prizes in Fremantle Eisteddfod with total of $2500 cash prize. The winning of Open Concerto section has given him a chance to play Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No.1 with Fremantle Orchestra next year in 2016. Really looking forward to it!

Tchaikovsky Concerto with Metropolitan Orachestra

AMP's Tomorrow Fund 2014

21st November 2014, Shuan Hern has become the youngest recipient of AMP's Tomorrow Fund. There were 5600 applicants aged from 8 to 82 years old.  Only 47 from all walks of life were award winners.Thanks for AMP"s Tomorrow Fund, it helps those Australians who work hard to get one step closer to their dreams. Shuan Hern will use the $10,000 grant for future studies and travelling.

Beethoven Marathon

32 Sonatas*23 Pianists* 1 Day

12 October 2014, Shuan Hern as the youngest pianist joined with other 22 from all over Australia in this wonderful series of concerts of Beethoven's Piano Sonatas marathon. All 32 sonatas were played from 9AM to 10:30PM. It is certainly a treat to Beethoven lovers. Many members of the audience actually stayed at the Government House Ballroom for whole day and listened to every single sonata!

 

Shuan Hern performed Op.31. no.3 and Op.10. no.2.

Winning the WAMTA Best Performer Award

28th September 2014, Shuan Hern has won the Western Australia Music Teacher's Association Recital and Concerto Competition - Best Performance of the Year Award 2014. He has also won the Age under 26 Open Recital seciton and Age 10-14 Concerto section. Love the Perpetual Trophy!

The Voice Kids Australia

Do you know that Shuan Hern can sing? July 2014, Shuan Hern was on The Voice Kids Australia TV show. Amongst 8000 children, Shuan Hern went all the way into Delta's team and was one of the 45 semi-finalists! It was an amazing experience. The show was trully well organized and all the kids were well looked after. Lots of great fun!

Colburn Summer School

June 2014, Shuan Hern and dad went to Colburn Summer Festival at Los Angeles and met many young friends who loves music. Shuan Hern learnt heaps from the masterclasses. The School was very well equipped and the lecturers and staff were extremely friendly and caring.

Shuan Hern's Solo Recital

26th April 2014, Shuan Hern had his 1 and half hour solo recital at Hale School Music Auditorium. He played Scarlatti, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, his own compositions and lots more. He sang as well. It was a great success!

New Year's Eve Vinenna Pops Concert, Perth Concert Hall

 

Shuan Hern spent an unforgettable 2013 New Year's Eve at the Vienna Pops New Year's Eve Concert, Perth Concert Hall. He performed 1st movement of Grieg Concerto in A minor. Tchaikovsky Conservatory

On 26th November, 2013, Shuan Hern performed at the Crescendo Music Festival. He played the 2nd and 3rd movements of Grieg Piano Concerto in A minor with the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra Novaya Rossiya. The Great Hall of Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory of Music was filled with full capacity house of 1700 audience and the conductor Alexander Sladkovsky offering effusive praise for his performance.  Watch his live performance from here.....

Sberbank Debut, Ukraine

On 17th November, 2013, Shuan Hern won Laureate Prize -- Outstanding and Greatest Achievement Prize, of US$5000 at the Sberbank Debut International Music Competition and Festival in Kiev, Ukraine. And teacher/dad Yoon Sen has also been awarded Best Teacher Award of US$1000.

Recital Australia, Adelaide

On 21st August, Shuan Hern gave a 1 and half hour solo Rectial in Adelaide. It was broadcasted on Radio and included following repertoire: Mozart Sonata K311, Chopin Waltz Op.34 no.1,  Etudes Op.10 no.2,3,9,12, Op.25 no.1,12 and Barcarolle, Debussy Estampes, Hyde Valley of Rocks, Muczynski Toccata.  Shuan Hern was so thrilled and delighted to perform at Pilgrim's church on a wonderful Groatian concert grand and wonderful accoustics of the beautiful church. Oxford International Piano

Festival and Summer Academy 

August 2013,Shuan Hern obtained a scholarship to go the the Oxford International Piano Festival and Summer Academy. He learnt a lot having lessons and masterclasses with various teachers and concert pianists from various countries.He performed at Holywell Music Room (First concert hall built in Europe where Haydn and Handel performed). A deeply emotional and touching experience to perform in such a famous hall.

Chopin Music Festival in Busko Droj and Warsaw, Poland

July 2013, Shuan Hern was invited to perform at the Chopin Festival Busko Droj, Poland. Shuan Hern loves Chopin's Music and thoroughly enjoyed every moment there. It was very memorable because he performed a solo recital on his birthday! He loves Poland, expecially Warsaw, the family visited all the important places that is related to Chopin. Astana Piano Passion

May 2013, Shuan Hern won First Prize of Astana Piano Passion International Piano Competition. The city of Astana, Kazakhstan was extraordinary! Everything was so new and huge. The people there were very friendly and the competition was really well organised. Shuan Hern performed in a 4000 capacity hall!. You can watch his live performance from here......

Horowitz International Piano Competition, Kiev,Ukraine

April 2013, Shuan Hern won 2nd prizes at the Horowitz International Competition. Shuan Hern has learnt a lot about performing by watching many other pianists in various sections, expecially competitors of various piano schools. You can watch his live performances from here......

Obtaining L.Mus with Distinction

December 2012, Shuan Hern attended  AMEB Graduation Ceremony and performed Chopin Ballade no.1 at Elder Hall, Adelaide, Australia. He passed his L.Mus (Licentiate Diploma of Music) with Disctinction at the age of 10 and has obtained the LMus Prize of year 2012 from the Australian Music Examinations Board. Stockholm, Sweden

 

November 2012, Shuan Hern was invited to perform at a private function at Stockholm, Sweden.  He enjoyed every single moment of the trip especially the snow! It was first time for him to play in the snow! how exciting! 

Russian Music International Piano Competition, San Jose, USA

June 2012, Shuan Hern won 3rd prize in the Russian Music International Piano Competition. San Jose is a lovely city and Shuan Hern made some new friends. The Beethoven Museum was very informative and most helpful in many ways. He saw Beethoven's hair and mask and some period instuments. He has also visited San Francisco. Chopin International Piano Competition, Hartford USA

March 2012, Shuan Hern won 1st Prize in Chopin International Piano Competition at Hartford connecticut USA. Debut Album - My Musical Adventure

April 2011, Shuan Hern performed a full hour solo recital at the age of 8 at the Alexander Library Theatre. It was also the launch of his solo debut piano album, My Musical Adventures. Shuan Hern performed works by Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Debussy, his own compositions and others. You could purchase his CD from here......

Prodigies of the World, Singapore

June 2010, Shuan Hern performed two concerts of which one was at Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in Singapore for the Prodigies of the World concert. He also performed a duet with his dad, Yoon Sen Lee and an ensemble work with other fellow musicians. Shuan Hern enjoyed the thunderous applause from the audience and especially the autograph signing experience at the reception area. Singapore is a beautiful, crowded but extremely safe city. It is a city that never sleeps. Shuan Hern enjoyed the food there though would love to have less humid weather.

Australia's Got Talent

 

May 2010, Shuan Hern was on Australia's Got Talent Show. It was a great experience for him and many people got to know him by watching his amazing performance on the Flight of the Bumblebee (transcribed by Rachmaninoff). Carnegie Hall, New York

April 2010, 7 year old Shuan Hern won Gold Prize of "Passion of Music International Music Competition" organised by American Association of Development of Gifted and Talented. He Performed at Carnegie Hall and Steinway Hall, New York.  It was a wonderful experience to perform in such prestigious venues.
